One of the remarkable experiences on a European river cruise, especially on the Danube, is passing through a constant series of locks which lift or lower the ship to continue the trip along the river. The locks are connected to hydro-electric plants which is why they exist. You can be lifted or lowered 60 feet or more. In this video I show the experience (using some sped up footage to illustrate the amazing feat!)
