Travel Podcast 94: Designing A Cruise Ship

Tips for Travellers PodcastIn episode 94 of the Tips for Travellers Podcast, I take a look at what goes into designing a massive luxury cruise ship!

In the podcast I interview Andrea Gangale of MSC Cruises. A qualified Naval Architect, he worked for years with the massive Carnival Cruise line in Miami on new ship launches before joining MSC Cruises. He is responsible for deciding and designing what features are built into new cruise ships they are building.

In the interview he shares the process that goes into designing and building a new cruise ship. He explains the difference between designing a totally new “Class” of ships versus then rolling out new versions of them. He talks about the main stages a ship goes through. He also discusses his involvement in the MSC Preziosa ship which he was involved with through its entire design process.
