The Cruise Liner Artwork Taking Over My Studio Wall By Onno Heesbeen
You may have noticed a change in the background of my recent Tips For Travellers videos, there’s a reason.

Three major classic cruise liner artworks now form a major part of my studio backdrop, all by Dutch artist and maritime researcher Onno Heesbeen — and I have become rather hooked on his work.
I now have three of his large, one-metre pieces on display:
- SS Ile De France
- SS Rotterdam
- Queen Elizabeth 2
His most recent is this stunning and detailed Queen Elizabeth 2 artwork now on my wall.

These are not quick, decorative ship pictures. They are incredibly detailed artworks based on extensive research into the ships, their design, proportions, history, and tiny details that most of us would never spot — but which make all the difference.
What I love about them is that they capture the drama, elegance, and sheer engineering brilliance of the great ocean liners. They feel like proper tributes to ships that were not just transport, but floating statements of design, ambition, and national pride.
Considering the size, limited numbers, quality, and detail, I think they are very reasonably priced at around £89 / $120 each for the large one-metre prints. I also have some of Onno’s smaller pieces, which are equally striking and easier to fit into smaller spaces.

Onno also sells ship models, maritime photographs, and takes commissions. His work covers Italian, French, British, Dutch, and other great liners, so there is a huge range to explore at different price points.
If you love classic liners, cruise history, maritime art, or just want something rather special for your wall, I highly recommend taking a look at his store.
