Ambassador Hotel Paris (video, review, photos)

The Ambassador Hotel is in a great location in Paris, on the Boulevard Haussmann. A smart shopping area with the famous Galleries Lafayette department store and many specialty stores, as well as restaurants and bars.

It is in a classic Parisian building, as are those around it. This makes for a stylish and appealing look overall.

Inside, the hotel has a fairly dark decor with some unusual combinations and choices. The hotel rooms and floors are under-going renovations. Some of the people as part of our business group had non-renovated rooms and so this is worth checking on.

I was upgraded from the basic room and the room I had, which had a view onto the street, was a good size with a nice bathroom and separate toilet. The beds were very high and overall comfortable. The pillows less so.

The decor of the room was dark, with a lot of burgundy. The other downside is that it had inter-connecting doors to rooms on both sides (and from the hotel website it seems many rooms may have). Therefore, there is some noise from the other rooms. My pet hate!

The breakfast, which was included in the rate, was great with a large selection of hot and cold.

I did not check out or try the fitness room, but there is one.

Overall, I found the hotel pretty good and would stay again. My colleagues, who had not been upgraded, were less positive about the rooms and the view (of a wall).

The staff was very helpful, but housekeeping was more erratic. For example, not restocking the coffee/ milk sachets so after day one no chance of a cup!
