Mainport Hotel Rotterdam Reception

The Mainport Hotel in Rotterdam is a 5 star hotel that opened in May 2013. It is is modern, plush and has very helpful staff. I really liked staying here.

The hotel is in a great location and many of the rooms have great views across the river and the canals behind the river (ask for a room with those views not the city view!). It is just across the Erasmus Bridge, on the opposite side to where the cruise ships dock and close to where the Spiro boat tours around the massive harbour depart of the other side. It is within very easy walking distance of attractions like the Maritime Museum and the main shopping areas.

The hotel is modern and has a bright and designed feel to it. The conference centre is on the ground floor, and the restaurant on the lower ground floor. The food is very good in the restaurant, and the breakfast buffet is huge with large choice of fruits, yogurts, cold and hot food. The only slightly strange quirk is there are no toilets for the large conference rooms on the ground floor, and only on the lower ground.

The rooms are very impressive. They are huge and depending on the room you may have a massive whirlpool / jacuzzi style tub by the window or a sauna in the bathroom. Some of the rooms have both. I was staying in a room with both. The tub took ages to fill up but it was very relaxing lying looking out at the canals, especially in the bright evenings.

The decor is modern. The bed very large and comfortable. There is a handy working desk. TV is fairly small and usual range of different language channels. The bathroom has a huge shower which is almost a wet room style. There is a separate toilet. The only slight annoying thing is that the light is activated on entering and so if you visit in the night it come son full blast, and takes what seems like a long time to go off afterwards. So you have a very bright room, which if you are travelling with a partner will likely wake them up!

There is a coffee making machine, where some of the pods are free each day but then you pay if you have more.

The staff were very good through out the hotel, Very impressive. Highly recommended place to stay in Rotterdam.
