…de/ · City Panoramas (views of highlights): http://www.panorama-cities.net/dusseldorf/dusseldorf.html What is there to do in Dusseldorf? At the risk of offending loyal fans and residents of the city, I have to say that there is not as much to do and see as some of the other German cities. But saying that residents absolutely love the city and the quality of life – and so maybe that is the best tip this week: if you are looking for a great place to…

Hilton Hotel Dusseldorf (Review, photos and video)

…rybembridge. It has been a number of years since I stayed at the Hilton in Dusseldorf. I was not looking forward to the stay as it used to be a regular place I stayed at during one of my work assignments. I was, though, very pleasantly surprised by the change. The hotel has been renovated and many good changes have been made. One of these is the fitness centre. This used to be dire, but is now a modern facility with a good range of cardio machines…

HILTON MILLENIUM HOTEL, NEW YORK, USA: noisy due to ground zero building

…it on this trip. The hotel is right next to the famous Century 21 discount label department store and an easy 10 minute walk to South Street Sea Port area with its shops and museums and the major drop off and pick up for the round Manhattan bus tours. But overall, it is not a very handy destination for tourists as far from the shopping areas and Central Park etc. Overall, I liked the room a lot but the noise of construction did wake me up earlier…

…if you are putting your luggage out keep the tear off tag from the luggage label, that will remind you what allocated slot you have and, as some cruise lines require us to show our luggage tag colour to let you off the ship, the allocated time. Finally, when packing, don’t pack the cruise line umbrella, dressing gown, binoculars or other bits and pieces around the cabin. These 7 Things Throw Norwegian Fjords Cruisers Every Time!

…ke design. And of course, they have trolls everywhere. Always check on the label where they’re made. I would stress again that Norway is very expensive. The currency is the Norwegian kroner, and because it’s not the Euro, the exchange rate is more complicated, it’s easy to get confused about how much you’re paying. Make sure you understand it. On the plus side, many of the souvenir shops will take Euros and some will take dollars or UK Sterling. I…

I Tried the World’s “Most Popular Small Ship Cruise” Line: Windstar Cruises

…ut the overall dress code was very relaxed. This was not a flashy designer label for dinner experience, it was more like when I have been on an expedition cruise. In short, were what you bring and wear was low on the list. Personal Feel The third thing was with a maximum of 312 guests and 200 crew. People said they liked that they got to know the crew and vice versa. They liked always being called by name. As the same crew would man lunch, dinner,…

Lufthansa Flight and Lounge Heathrow Terminal 2

Lufthansa Flight and Lounge Heathrow Terminal 2

…lly, flying on Lufthansa today instead of my preferred BA. I was flying to Dusseldorf and the BA option meant I would only leave Heathrow at 7.30 pm and get there about 10pm so I took Lufthansa at 5.30. I was also unusually for a European work trip, travelling business as my routing on this trip and lateness of booking threw up an all business ticket (not that I am complaining, though sure our corporate travel will!).I was quite surprised by the B…

Heathrow Terminal 2: destroying the airline business queue by queue…

…arch 2008 moves to the new T5). I was flying out of Terminal 2 Heathrow to Dusseldorf (Germany) today. What a nightmare. The queue to get into the security area stretches the full length of the terminal (about 400 yards). That takes 10 to 15 minutes to get to the roped off area where you then wind round for another 10 to 15 minutes before getting to a short area with the scanning machines in. It took me 30 minutes exactly from time of joining the…
