I have stayed in New York a zillion times over the last 20 years, mostly for work when I was commuting back and forth. I just wish that this hotel had existed earlier, and that I had discovered it before this trip. If it had, I would have been a regular here!

The hotel is fairly new, and although it is called Hotel Intercontinental Time Square New York, it is a few short blocks from the madness of Time Square on 44th Street. So it is within a short walk to that throbbing part of town, but you are not assaulted by the thick crowds, bustle and noise as you step out of the hotel. It also has, because of its location, the most amazing views which do not mean looking into the side of another skyscraper.

We had booked a corner room. Our room was on the 28th floor (room 2826) and it gave us staggeringly beautiful views on the one side across to the Hudson River, and on the other side looking up-town. There were no buildings on top of us, and so the views were long and impressive. The view at night was so “New York” that we slept with the curtains open so as to feel we were getting our money’s worth!

The rooms are small, like most New York Hotels. But very tasteful and stylish. The bed was absolutely massive, and very comfortable. The other massive feature was the TV! There is a desk with computer. Annoyingly like so many hotels, you have to pay around $15 per device for wireless or wired internet. The bathroom has a huge shower with rainfall style shower head and a handheld shower attachment.

Service was bright and cheerful. They had noted my request for a room without an interconnecting door (a huge issue for me) and acknowledged it on check in (unlike most hotels). We had arrived there at about 9am having come off the Queen Mary 2 that had docked early in the morning. They took my mobile and called as soon as the room was ready.

We did not eat there, but the Todd English attached to the hotel looked fantastic.

This is one New York hotel I can highly recommend. I will be back!
